Alexandra Koumba is not an ordinary jewelry designer. She is an avid collector of 20th century antique objects and furniture. Her passion in arts was followed by her love affair with jewelry which started in 2008. This relationship did not betrayed her as in 2011 Alexandra was appointed the official designer of Jewelry and Accessories of the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens.
I met her some weeks ago at the event where her new collection was presented. I had never seen her treasures up close and my first impression was that she is more than a jewelry designer. She is an artist. Everything in her collection is handmade, impressive and are more artistic pieces than jewels. All are made of bronze with 18k gold, rose and silver plating.

Her inspiration comes from her country, Greece combined with vintage elements. Another source of her inspiration is nature. From a close look at her jewels, one can discern that she uses it exactly how she finds it. For instance, she uses lace crochet as the vintage component and spondylos (bones) as her interpretation of what seeds, foliage and insects are to nature.

Last but not least, Alexandra Koumba turned the spotlights on her with the Karpoi Ear cuff (the below one) when Alicia Keys wore it at the Tidal Wave Concert!

We are more than proud of having this artist in our country, as her talent will surely be discussed in the near future!
Sparkly Kisses,
